ELLAFEE ART
Hand Drawn and Personalised Artwork by Laura Baker
Ellafee Art
My Story
Ellafee Art is a design studio specialising in hand drawn and personalised prints, greeting cards and commissions. All artwork is created by myself, Laura, in my little space at the back of my house, with feedback and interruptions from my husband and four children.

Art has always been a love of mine and, when illness meant I had to retire from my beloved teaching career after 25 years, I found drawing a comfort. I started creating animal pictures for friends and family and decided to start my own business. Then ‘lockdown’ happened and I found myself teaching again (this time my own girls). When school returned, one of my daughters decided she preferred home schooling - so another year of teaching ensued! She has since returned to secondary school and I finally have the opportunity to create ‘Ellafee Art’.

Commissions at Ellafee Art
The Process
It is really important that a commission is perfect. I do not take payment until you are completely happy with the product. With this in mind, the following steps should make sure we get to a final picture that reflects your requirement and that you are happy to pay for and receive.
Portraits
Commissioning an Ellafee Portrait is a personalised experience, rather than something to be completed as part of a form on a website. Here’s how the process works:

First, get in touch with me via messenger, social media, text or email where we can have a chat about your requirements, and I can provide you with a price and offer a date in the diary.
I work from photographs, so I will then ask you send me some of your favourite images and together we can pick one on which to base your artwork ready for your diary slot. (I offer some photography guidance to help you pick the best possible image for reference)
Once your diary date arrives, I will confirm you are still happy with the image choice and let you know I have started your picture. If you would like stage by stage updates I can provide this via messenger or email.
Once the picture is complete, I will send you a final photograph. If you are happy with the drawing. I will request payment and the picture can be collected, posted or delivered.
All pictures are A3 (42 x 30cm) unless otherwise requested. Prices are based on how many subjects appear.
1 SUBJECT £60
2 SUBJECTS £80
3 SUBJECTS £100
Welly Boots
I love completing Welly Boot commissions; deciding upon, researching and drawing the contents always makes me smile. As I have said before, organising a commission is a personalised experience, rather than something to be completed as part of a form on a website. Here’s how the process works:
First, get in touch with me via messenger, social media, text or email where we can have a chat about your Welly Boot needs, and I can provide you with a price and offer a date in the diary.
I then ask you to send information about each person to be represented by a welly. This includes their name, age, position in the family, approximate height (I need to get the relative size of the wellies), favourite colour, career, hobbies, pets and any other feature you think important.
When your diary date arrives, I will confirm you still require the picture and make a start. When I have completed the first draft in graphite pencil, I will send you a photo and colour once you are happy.
Once the picture is complete, I will send you a final photograph. If you are happy with the drawing. I will request payment and the picture can be collected, posted or delivered.
Pictures up to 5 wellies are A4 (30 x 21cm) and 6+ wellies are A3 (42 x 30cm) unless otherwise requested. Prices are based on how many wellies appear.

Personalised Teacher Thank You Picture
Having been a teacher for 25+ years, I loved receiving personalised gifts such as these and I have also created them for my children’s teachers and colleagues. Here’s how the process works if you’d like to order:
First, get in touch with me via messenger, social media, text or email where we can have a chat about your picture choice, tag line and whether you would like a realistic ‘capture’ or cute picture, and I can provide you with a price and offer a date in the diary. (Waiting times for these types of picture are usually very short as they can be completed in between other commissions)
You then send me a photograph of the child or teacher for a realistic capture or a description for the cute version.
Pictures are A4 (30 x 21cm) unless otherwise requested. Prices are based on how many figures appear.
1 FIGURE £10
2 FIGURES £15
3 FIGURES £20

Family ‘Captures’ and Cute Representations
I call these ‘captures’ as they do exactly that, capture the cartoony feel of the person from a photograph rather than being a perfect portrait. I also offer a ‘cute’ version which uses a description as inspiration rather than an image.
First, get in touch with me via messenger, social media, text or email where we can have a chat about your picture choice, design and whether you would like a realistic ‘capture’ or cute picture, and I can provide you with a price and offer a date in the diary.
You then send me a photograph of the family/picture members for a realistic capture or a description for the cute version.

Photos - Guidance
What You Need to Know
I copy directly from an image, so it is very important to send me a good photograph from which to create your portrait; the quality directly impacts the picture I am able to produce.
You don’t need to have a photoshoot or take a new picture for the commission, a favourite from your camera roll will be fine as long as it is clear, close up and in focus. Choose one or more to send and we can discuss which will be the best to use. Neither do you need to worry about the background - all pictures are created without background imagery, unless specifically requested. I can also create group portraits from separate images which I can arrange into a coherent pose.
Here are some other pointers to make sure the portrait created is as you expect:

Remember, it is likely I have never seen the person or animal you want me to draw, so I can only copy what I see.

Do make sure you send me a picture which reflects the age of the subject. It is hard for me to imagine how a person or pet might look older or younger if I haven't met them. I can try to accommodate but the likelihood is you won’t be satisfied with my vision.

Do make sure you have no filters on your picture; including coloured filters, as they change the hair colour and complexion.

Do make sure the picture isn’t overly pixilated – this often happens when thumb nails or face book profile pictures are print screened and enlarged.

Do remember – the better the photo, the better the portrait.
